Drawing on interviews with new majority students from diverse institutions, this session will explore how staff and faculty can empower students to have the kinds of relationship-rich experiences that will support their academic success and their personal well-being—including both formal mentoring and encounters with mentors “of the moment.” We will weave together stories from our research with the expertise and perspectives of participants in the session to focus on how our programs, classes, and institutions can more intentionally help students to develop strategies that will enable them to build meaningful human connections in college.
