MentorPRO’s Director of Research Interviewed about AI and Mental Health

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Alex Werntz, MentorPRO’s Director of Research, was recently interviewed in an article examining the role of artificial intelligence in mental health support. The piece, titled “How AI can help (or hurt) your mental health: 5 prompts experts recommend,” explores how AI tools can augment—but not replace—traditional therapeutic approaches.
Dr. Werntz emphasized that AI can be used by individuals to learn more about evidence-based treatments, demystify the therapy process, or even to generate some alternative explanations for real-life situations that cause big emotions. However, individuals using AI should also understand the very real limitations, including the fact that it is not a real person who cares about how the user is doing. AI may provide inaccurate, false, or even biased responses, so individuals should always use their own judgment when deciding what to do with the information presented by AI platforms.
Dr. Werntz’s interview complements the work our team is doing. At MentorPRO, we are committed to leveraging technology responsibly to enhance thriving, always prioritizing ethical considerations and human connection.
