ALEXANDRIA, VA – Dr. Alexandra Werntz, MentorPRO’s Director of Research, delivered the keynote address at the MMoment conference, Military Mentors’ intensive one-day event focused on mentorship and transformational leadership.

The conference, held in Alexandria, VA overlooking the Potomac River, brought together military-affiliated professionals dedicated to elevating, educating, and facilitating mentorship within the military community. The MMoment exemplifies Military Mentors’ commitment to fostering meaningful and effective mentor-mentee relationships and developing transformational leadership skills. Military Mentors continues to serve as a cornerstone organization in promoting authentic mentorship relationships and mentorship opportunities within the Army and broader military community.

Dr. Werntz discussed the science of mentoring, largely citing Dr. Rhodes’ work from the last three decades. She shared key ingredients of successful mentoring programs, including:

  1. Balancing the mentee’s goals with a strong relationship
  2. Mentor training and supervision
  3. Peer mentoring
  4. Supportive accountability

MentorPRO values working with our military-affiliated partners, including all of our National Guard Youth ChalleNGe partners and West Point Academy.
