In peer-reviewed research, greater engagement with MentorPRO was associated with higher end-of-year GPA, a stronger sense of belonging and better well-being (Werntz et al., 2026).
Financial model and research context
The calculator multiplies students, an assumed retention change and annual tuition. The starting value of 3 points is an example scenario for planning, not a forecast. You can set it from 0 to 10 points. It is half of the 6-point first-year retention gain that Salem State reported from one cohort.
In a peer-reviewed study at Northeastern, more engagement with MentorPRO went with higher end-of-year GPA, a stronger sense of belonging and better well-being. It also went with more course withdrawals (Werntz et al., 2026). The study shows association, not cause, and gives no retention percentage.
In a separate study, students who took the Connected Scholars course had 3.23 times the odds of graduating in four years (Hersch et al., 2026). That is a graduation odds ratio, not an annual retention lift.
