Supporting OJJDP-Funded Mentoring Programs
Across the country, mentoring programs funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) are helping young people build the relationships, skills, and support networks they need to succeed. Whether working with justice-involved youth or young people at risk of system involvement, these programs play a critical role in improving long-term outcomes.
But sustaining effective mentoring programs at scale requires more than strong relationships. Programs must also track engagement, support mentors, monitor youth progress, and report outcomes to funders.
MentorPRO is an evidence-based mentoring platform designed to support these needs. The platform helps programs strengthen mentor–youth relationships while providing tools to track communication, youth goals, wellbeing check-ins, and program outcomes.
For example, the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program uses MentorPRO across 21 sites to support mentoring relationships after cadets leave the residential phase of the program. Across those sites:
- 5,064 cadets registered on the platform
- 75% actively communicated with staff or mentors
- 72% completed wellbeing check-ins
- 324,000+ mentoring messages were exchanged
These tools help staff maintain consistent contact with youth, identify challenges early, and document program impact.
MentorPRO is grounded in 30+ years of mentoring research and supported by NSF and NIH, with features designed to help programs strengthen mentoring implementation while meeting reporting and evaluation requirements.
If your organization is applying for or implementing an OJJDP mentoring grant, we’d love to connect.
